MEMBRANE COATING SYSTEMS

The Membrane Coating System is used to extend the life of an existing single-ply roof that is nearing the end of its service life. EPDM rubber roofs are typically the main target for a Membrane Coating System but it can also be a good option to extend the life of an older PVC, TPO, or CSPE roof.

Upon inspection and determining if the membrane is in good enough condition, the EPDM (or PVC, TPO, CSPE) is then pressure washed, and a tack coat primer is applied to prepare the surface for the application of the main coatings. Rapid Roof III® or Benchmark® base coat is installed over all the seams embedding polyester fabric into the wet film followed by applying a second coat of Rapid Roof III® base coat or Benchmark® base coat over the fabric. The roof is completed with two coats of Rapid Roof III® or Benchmark® Topcoat. The topcoat is white which will greatly reduce the temperature of the aged roof surface in the summer.

This system will help prevent further degradation of the existing rubber while also providing a watertight system for an additional 10-15 years.
